Example cost: labour AED 1,800 + materials AED 1,200 + subcontractors AED 600 + travel AED 200 + allocated overheads AED 400 = AED 4,200. For a 30% margin on selling price: 4,200 ÷ 0.70 = AED 6,000. A 30% markup gives AED 5,460, a margin of about 23.1%. Do not confuse markup with margin.
